News services around the world are blitzing the public with reports of the spread of flu and its seriousness. People are becoming very sick; some are dying from complications of the flu. Various forms of the flu are a major interruption to every family's day-to-day activities, and can even lead to death.
However, despite what some people say, there are some basic things that we all can do to try to avoid getting the flu and stay healthy.
First off, if you travel a lot… you need to be aware that planes, trains, subways and buses (any form of mass transportation) are filled with people who have traveled from many different locations. That is a recipe for a germ laden cocktail that can be passed around from person to person. If you are traveling in confined spaces with many people good sanitation is VERY important. So, if you are a traveler, take these precautions seriously.
The best thing you can do is to build up your immune system to avoid becoming sick in the first place. Eat a diet laden with vitamin and nutrient-rich natural foods. Take your multi-vitamins, exercise regularly, and get plenty of rest… a good 7-8 hours per night. It is amazing how many people report catching the flu virus after staying up late, or having little sleep. Also drink plenty of water, as it flushes out the system. If you can do these things and your immune system is strong, even if you are exposed to the flu…your system will be better able to recover more quickly and with less devastating results.
Covering your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing is important. When around others who are sneezing or coughing, wearing a mask that covers your mouth and nose if you have a compromised immune system is very important. People who must be very careful about getting a contagious disease are people that are especially vulnerable are those who have chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart and lung diseases, asthma, etc. Young babies, pregnant women, and the elderly have to be extra careful as well.
Now, the important part. Washing your hands often and thoroughly with a germicide will help to cut down on your expose to contagious diseases DRAMATICALLY. 90% of flu bugs spread to new people by human touch (door handles, faucets, etc.) Using germicide gels that kill germs on contact is critical. Using Lysol or some other spray disinfectant will help keep surfaces that everyone comes in contact with clean, however, these disinfectants only last a few minutes. Once the alcohol evaporates, the disinfectant is useless.
This is why Silver Soft® for Skin is important in killing powerful "superbug" germs like MRSA. Silver Soft is the only antibacterial and germicidal product on the market with a persistent germ killing power of UP TO 3 HOURS! That means you can apply it to your hands at the start of a plane flight and have it remain effective the duration of the flight. Also, Silver Soft is so gentle you can spray it in your mouth and nose area, and it will kill a great percentage of the airborne germs that are trying to penetrate your respiratory system.
Chelated Silver™ is the active ingredient in Silver Soft®. In Silver Soft® for Skin's CHELATED SILVER™ formula, ions of pure, crystallized silver nitrate are chemically bonded to nonmetallic ions, and are therefore evenly dispersed throughout the solution. This bonding in solution considerably enhances Chelated Silver™'s antimicrobal action and persistance (killing power over time).
